    The Marketing & Communications Committee

This committee provides direction on the development of marketing and communication initiatives and aims to help reinforce the Chamber's reputation as a leading Voice of Business in London.

This committee works closely with Chamber staff and, when needed, liaises with the other Chamber program and policy committees to provide strategic counsel on the positioning of policy papers, event marketing, and other activities including the biennial membership survey.

Who should join this committee? Individuals from member companies who are specialists in the fields of public relations, marketing, writing, and media relations are encouraged to volunteer on this committee. Individuals who are interested in developing these types of skills are invited to join this committee.

    Policy Committees

The Policy department at the Chamber is responsible for maintaining the organization's position and profile as the leading advocate for London business. The Government Affairs Committee is involved in this process:

    Government Affairs Committee

The Government Affairs Committee connects volunteers and members to key issues and decision-makers on vital issues such as the economy, taxation, labour, social reform and healthcare. The committee monitors government initiatives of interest to Chamber members, surveys and informs members of the impact of such initiatives, and formulates responses to the government on behalf of our business community. Any Chamber member with an interest in the federal, provincial and municipal governments, is welcome on this committee. Interested members are encouraged to attend meetings. Existing committee members belong to a variety of industry sectors including manufacturing, technology, financial, institutional, service, and professional.

    Program Committees

    Membership Services Committee

As an amalgam of the former Membership Sales and Service Committee and the Special Events and Networking Committee, the new committee’s primary objective will be to develop synergistic programs and opportunities that support the value proposition the Chamber provides to its members through two streams that are central to the Chamber’s success and sustainability – Networking and Member Attraction and Retention (sales and service).

By harnessing the collective energies of the former committees under one Standing Committee structure, the Chamber can better position itself for future success. The creation of two Sub Committees, one focussed on Networking the other on Sales/Service will ensure that our objectives remains focused on providing numerous and well balanced networking opportunities for members (a key reason for joining amongst the SME sector) along with a continued focus on increasing our membership base and reducing annual turnover.

In conjunction with identified elements of Strategic Plan Objectives #1 and #4 the Committee will support the Chamber’s efforts in adding value to the membership by acting as the main source developer/organizer of all networking events/opportunities (excludes major annual events and political keynote opportunities) as well as providing relevant information, services and programs that support the success of our membership and promotes membership into the Chamber.

Not sure committee involvement is for you? Feel free to try out a few meetings before you make your decision. Most committees meet monthly but even once you have joined a committee, attendance at each monthly meeting, though encouraged, is not mandatory.
